East Peoria, Ill. — Boyd Gaming’s Par-A-Dice Hotel Casino today announced it has contributed a $50,000 donation to Neighborhood House, a local non-profit organization that provides a safe environment, meals, resources and educational programs to empower the community.
Par-A-Dice’s donation will support Neighborhood House’s Meals on Wheels program, which provides nutritious meals for homebound seniors in Peoria and surrounding communities. Through the Meals on Wheels program, Neighborhood House is able to deliver meals to the homes of eligible seniors Monday through Friday. More than 1 million meals have been delivered through the program since 1971, and the program’s recipients also receive educational materials, newspapers and pet food if needed.
“Neighborhood House is so grateful to be the recipient of this generous donation from Par-A-Dice,” said Bryna Ryan, Interim CEO at Neighborhood House. “Last year, during the height of the pandemic, food insecurity rose dramatically. We adapted resources and programs to meet that need. However, the need quickly outgrew our limited resources and unfortunately, we had to institute a waiting list for our Meals on Wheels program. This donation will help allow us to do away with that waiting list and continue to meet the needs of the community.”
In addition to their Meals on Wheels program, Neighborhood House provides an array of services that address the community’s needs and provide the tools they need to be successful. These programs include their Adult Literacy, GED, and Financial Empowerment and Employment Services programs. The organization also offers Youth Education and Enrichment programs year-round, as well as a summer and afterschool meals for students in need. Families can access the organization’s food pantry or receive a meal through Neighborhood House’s Sunday Meals program.
